I am about to start a stimulated IVF cycle--just waiting on the Lupron to arrive (didn't come to today, so probably tomorrow). Would like to see if anyone else would like to chat/vent/support who is going through at a similar time.

Hello- I'm a long time veteran of infertility treatment and I still remember the anxiety I felt prior to giving myself that first injection. I spent years giving injections as a nurse but it's different when your the patient. I found after the first day that my anxiety diminished because they weren't nearly as painful as I'd imagined. Also, the side effects for most woman are very mild. Good Luck

So Nervous,
I will be starting my first IVF in the very near future. I have currently had 3 unsuccessful IUIs. I have talked to several people that have children as a result of their IVFs. From what I have heard and what I have read it sounds pretty painless. I had no idea that I would be taking so many drugs for the IVF. I used to be scared of needles but during my last IUI I had to do injectables so I am very used to those.

Best of luck with your upcoming IVF cycle! I had 4 unsuccessful IUIs and 3 unsuccessful natural IVFs, but this is my first time taking anything more than the trigger shot. I am on day 5 of the stim drugs (I am on Lupron, Gonal-F and Menopur). Menopur is the only one that really burns, but the burning only lasts a few minutes. I was also surprised at how many injections were involved, but you do learn to just get them done. I don't have any friends who have done IVF, many were successful with IUI. Most of my anxiety is the "unknown" factor and the "what's normal" factor. Keep me posted on how you are doing!

My DH and I are planning on doing a cycle in the fall, we have one child through IUI, but we feel we need to be more aggrssive for this round. Anyone else doing IVF?

I am also doing IVF. This is my first cycle and I will be starting my Lupron this Friday. I have no children and I have had two unsuccessful IUIs. How old is your child? Have you discussed with your RE about pursuing IVF?

I have been diagnosed with PCOS. I wish you much success.

So Nervous,
Thanks for your support. I have just started my Birth Control pills and will start the Lupron on Friday. I am excited and scared all at the same time. I am curious to know how many eggs I will produce. Of course I want to get pregnant but how do you decide how many. I know there is the age factor but boy is it scary.

Before starting this journey I was terrified of needles. It is amazing how I have managed to give them to myself now.
I wish you much success. I know that it has been a while since I have been on but please let me know how your cycle is coming. If my calculations are almost correct you should be almost close to retrieval. This is so very exciting!
