To get better acquainted with Dr. Reh, we have asked her to answer some questions about herself.
1. Why did you want to come back to the Washington, D.C. area?
I fell in love with the Washington area when my husband and I were here for medical school at Georgetown. We always felt very at home here. Most of our family and friends are in the area here too, and we are so happy to be living nearby again.
2. Why did you decide to become a medical doctor?
I was the kind of kid who always liked science, and I think I’ve wanted to become a doctor for as long as I can remember. I remember working as a candy striper back in grade school with my older sister (an ER nurse) and just feeling so rewarded by helping others in need. And after all of these years of education and training, that excitement hasn’t changed. It always comes back to helping the
patient.
3. How did you choose to practice in the field of Reproductive Endocrinology?
I went into ObGyn because I was just fascinated by the incredible journey women go through tohave a family, both physically and emotionally. I became a Reproductive Endocrinologist because I wanted to specifically focus on helping those couples whose journey was especially difficult. It’s really exciting to be a part of a field that is so quickly evolving and utilizing such advanced technologies to directly impact patient care.
4. What has been your greatest joy in your medical journey?
You know, I don’t think I could narrow it down to one single moment. As the first doctor in my family I didn’t exactly know what this adventure would entail. Now I appreciate just how strong the human spirit can be in the face of challenges, and the profound and intimate relationship that can exist between doctor and patient, and just how rewarding that relationship can be.
5. What has been your greatest challenge?
On a really basic level, I think it is always hard to reconcile why bad things happen to good people. There are so many conditions that we don’t fully understand yet, and outcomes that we just can’t always explain as physicians. But with so much research going on in our field right now, I am hopeful that we will find these answers in time.
6. Why did you choose Dominion Fertility to start your private practice?
Dominion Fertility’s excellent success rates and reputation for patient-centered care were exactly what I was looking for in a practice, and I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to become a part of the team.
7. What do you hope to accomplish at Dominion Fertility?
First of all, I look forward to getting to know the Dominion team and all of their wonderful patients, and collaborating with Drs. DiMattina and Gordon. At some point I’d love to get involved in teaching, research, and giving back to the education of physicians. But mostly, for now, I really just want to roll up my sleeves and start filling up a big photo album with baby photos from
my patients.
8. Is there anything else you would like your future patients to know about you?
I think it’s important to emphasize and appreciate how incredibly stressful having a diagnosis of infertility can be to a couple, but there is also so much hope. I am here to guide my patients with compassion through this difficult process, provide them with accurate information, and enable them to have their best chance for success.
We are thrilled to have Dr. Reh join us and know that our patients will benefit from her expertise, most current and up to date knowledge of the infertility field and treatments, as well as her hands on personal approach that is the hallmark of Dominion Fertility. Welcome Dr. Reh!
