JUST HAD TRANSFER DAY 3, 2 EMBIES- A 4 + 5 CELL- WORRIED!
1st IVF cycle- 6 failed IUI attempts (had to complete 6 for insurance purposes!!) Have a healthy 4 yr old conceived on 2nd round of IUI, I was 29 then. Now just 34....So they retrieved 8 eggs, 7 matured- 5 fertilized... then by day 3 only 2 survived. One was 5 cell and one was 4. They said they were optimisic b/c of my age, but everything I read says the odds are against me. I am trying to stay positive- but am super scared and teary (probably the progesterone -ouch by the way- my butts killing!) just wanted to chat- maybe get some support from ppl that know what I'm going through- hear some positive stories- or just share the misery :-)

Thanks Robin! I know... I used to never look b/c it seems whatever you search for you can find someone thats experienced something similar- and either negative or positive-- it really has nothing to do with what will happen to you... your right! 9 more days. I am a nurse manager and work has been nuts so that helps keep my mind occupied. Been trying to at least prepare for the worst and if the best happens, it will be great.

Hi Keri,
I understand how frustrating the two week wait can be especially when you are dealing with the side effects of the PIO shots as well. Hang in there and I would not base your optimism or pessimism on everything you read online, the facts are skewed by individual experiences and opinion.

Always better to have had a near miss than nothing...the data from the CDC suggests pregnancy rates in patients undergoing IVF are higher in those with prior pregnancy loss in a previous cycle compared with those that came up totally empty…

Most commonly biochemical pregnancies are genetic in origin as the embryo was normal enough to implant but not normal enough to keep growing. Any heavy bleeding that is unusual is a reason to at least check in with your doctor...

Agree that the emotional ups and downs make the 2ww the worst part of the whole process for many of our patients. Hard to understand why progesterone would cause cramping as progesterone is actually a uterine relaxant but there are always exceptions…

Bonus baby with NC IVF after being told FSH levels precluded another IVF attempt!
Just received a wonderful email from a lovely couple who traveled all the way from Georgia to do NC IVF here at Dominion. Having had a previous IVF/ICSI baby in 2006 they had returned to their RE for another attempt at IVF. Totally agree with you about the progesterone, I've taken the supps and had such bad PMS like symptoms that I knew it didn't work long before the blood test.

I'm currently 11dp7dt after a frozen blastocyst transfer, and I've been pretty shocked by the side effects of the progesterone & estrace. The cramping, bloating, breast soreness, and emotional nosedive are overwhelming. What concerns me most is the cramping. A number of times it was bad enough to wake me from a sound sleep.
