Sometimes it pays to travel. In June I had 2 international patients who came to Dominion Fertility specifically to pursue NC-IVF. Both had previously undergone stimulated cycle IVF but failed to have success and wished to avoid fertility drugs. They were unable to find any local clinics (Moscow and Albania respectively) that were willing to perform NC-IVF so they elected to travel here to the Washington DC area. Although language was a bit of a challenge at times both of these lovely patients made it to egg collection followed by embryo transfer and both conceived! I was a bit concerned about the economics of NC-IVF given the distance that they traveled but for both of them it appears that the investment of time and travel paid off handsomely.
We have had many patients travel to Dominion for NC-IVF from NJ, CT, GA, NC and even Hawaii but these were the two international NC-IVF patients that I have personally taken care of since we launched the program in 2007. Now if only we could open the NC-IVF satellite office on the French Riviera...that would be the cure for the DC hazy, hot and humid weather!
